Now, we at The Football Sack don't know much in the way of politics, but we're fairly certain PM Julia Gillard resides in Melbourne. When she's not being Prime Minister, anyway. Surprised, then, were we to find this picture of her in our in-box, clad in the colours of the Central Coast Mariners.

Surely Ms Gillard should support a Victorian based A-league team, as she supposedly does for the AFL - the Western Bulldogs. Especially now that there are two teams vying for her affection. Melbourne Heart could use all the support they can get - despite selling 4 tickets to rock-star Bon Jovi, it remains to be seen as to whether they will have a fan-base.
Or perhaps the Victory, who have had little to talk about in their lead up to the season, and would have been happy with some publicity with the PM. But no, it seems that the Central Coast is a key part of the upcoming election, and that the Mariners' Center of Excellence, which Gillard was in-town to announce potential funding for, is too good a photo opportunity for our wonderful football supporting PM. The question is, what code does she truly support? A-league, AFL, or perhaps what I like to call Politicball..
