TFS Team of the Week: Round Three

Thursday, August 26, 2010

Here at The Football Sack, we pride ourselves on being up to date, modern, edgy and different. This is why we’ve decided to start our very own “TFS Team of the Week”! What’s different and hip about that I hear you ask? Well not too much, just that we’re starting in Round Three...

So here are our first submissions. It may be a little controversial, but we assure you there’s no bias. Tell us what you think by adding a comment, and hopefully we’ll start up some banter. You may even be lucky enough to get a shout-out on our iTunes topping podcast (find it here).

Enjoy!!

GK: -------------------------- Michael Theoklitos -----------------------
DF: Tony Lochhead --- Jamie Harnwell --- Shane Stefanutto --- Eric Akoto
MF: Matthew McKay --- Adriano Pellegrino --- Erik Paartalu --- Ian Ramsey
FW: -----------------------Paul Ifill --- Chris Payne ---------------------

In our first TFS Team of the Week, it is of note that not one player from a losing side made the final cut. With nine of the eleven players coming from a winning side (the two Fury representatives of course coming from a draw) it shows that good team performances impact substantially on individual impressions.

After a solid win against the defending champions, the Brisbane Roar have been well represented with no less than four inclusions into this week’s squad; with Theoklitos as keeper, two defenders and both central midfielders selected, it appears the Roar overcoming Sydney FC has been put down to a strong defensive display.

Our most controversial element will most likely be Eric Akoto, who has made the team yet received a red card in his match (let us know what you think by leaving a comment below). Elsewhere Ian Ramsey capped off a great week by being selected thanks to scoring two goals for the Reds after a late call-up. Meanwhile Paul Ifil and Chris Payne continued their early season form being the two form forwards of the season so far.

Tony Lochhead has also made the team this week, and was revealed to us as being an ex-Revs player (read all about The Football Sack’s adopted clubs here), while Perth had two players in our team in Jamie Harnwell and Adriano Pellegrino after a solid win over Newcastle Jets.

Let us know what you think by adding comments below, and stay tuned every week for the TFS Team of the Week!
