Brosque hits home on his 100th

Sunday, November 21, 2010

Alex Brosque put today's game beyond doubt, scoring his 5th goal of the season. It was his 100th appearance in Sky Blue colours, and he was pleased with his strike.

"Just to get a get a goal is always good. But on a day like today, personally, and for the team more importantly we needed the points and it was good to have got them" said Brosque.

"It wasn't pretty, two teams really battling to get into the six and it was always going to be that sort of match. But we had to keep calm and push forward - keep pressing, keep trying things - and we did that.

"Once we got that goal it opened up a bit and we were able to get a second one".

Sydney now sit in 10th place on the table, but their recent results point to a revival in their season hopes, and Brosque agrees.

"If you look at the last 5 games we picked up a fair few points, so there is belief within the team that we can go on and have a go at it. It's just, we're not in that position at the moment, obviously - and the ladder doesn't lie" he said.

And on the subject of the team's tradition last season of lining up in front of the Cove and joining in a cheer at the end of a win, which has been missing this season to date, Terry McFlynn stated:

"If we keep winning for sure we'll have to [bring it back]".

Coach Vitezslav Lavicka also had an opinion on this.

"We need to improve many things maybe - this is one of them " he said - in jest.
