W-League: Rumblings at Roar

Wednesday, November 24, 2010

Some interesting events happening at Brisbane.

In Brisbane Roars last game at Wanderers Oval against Newcastle, in the 71st minute, who should come on the field and claim a spot kick before duly dispatching the ball into the back of the net? A one Lisa De Vanna.

In a surprise move Lisa is playing for the Roar this season. The Matildas striker is coming back from injury (broken ankle) and still has some recuperation to go but that didn’t stop her from taking the field last weekend and scoring.

Lisa, who played her early years in South Australia, also plays for Washington Freedom in the U.S Professional League. She was born and built her football career in Western Australia, and has said “Perth is always going to be home for me but it is not where my heart is at the moment…” Roar play Perth this weekend so it should be interesting for Lisa.

The match kicks off in Brisbane at Perry Park, Bowen Hills this Sunday at 4pm.
