Always look on the bright side of life

"Firstly, let me say sorry for all Sydney supporters". These were the initial sentiments coming from Viteslav Lavicka post-match at Bluetongue Stadium after FC's 4-0 loss last night to the Central Coast Mariners.

"There is no excuse for what we did tonight

"I don't remember when we've played a worse performance"

And on where Lavicka thought his team went wrong?





"It's just about concentration. Players up front should hold the ball, we didn't. All players must make a transition back, we didn't. We must play tightly, in defence especially, we didn't" he said.

Captain Terry McFlynn echoed his coach's words and had an apology for the fans who attended the game.

"The performance tonight was unacceptable. Our fans follow us everywhere, great support. They follow us all over the country and for them to witness a performance like that, as I say, is unacceptable."

Interestingly, Central Coast Mariners' coach Graham Arnold was highly satisfied with tonight's crowd attendance, pointing to the day and time of the match.

"I hope that the FFA look at our home games, our schedule, in the future. I thought Saturday night 7 o'clock really suits Mariners supporters. It was a good roll up tonight, and if in the future we keep winning I think we can break ten 10 000 plus if we can have 7 o'clock games" he stated.

What Arnold failed to take into account, it seems, was the traveling Sydney FC support of 1500+. The vocal Cove, disillusioned with the 4-0 scoreline, brought out a collection of songs from past seasons featuring ex-players David Carney, Steve Corica, Simon Colosimo, and the injured striker Alex Brosque. The singing culminated in the Cove singing "Always look on the bright side of life" to their team as they came and thanked the supporters for traveling to the game.
