The return of the King

It is official, Mr. Roy Hodgson has left Anfield by mutual consent.

After six months in the position and playing some of the worst football the club has seen in a long time, Liverpool are sitting 12th on the table, winning away from home only once this season. The look in the players faces the other day when the club lost to Blackburn Rovers 3-1 proved that they were not happy with the direction the club was heading. Change had to happen.

Who better to create change in the club than the man the Liverpool faithful call 'King Kenny'. Although having been out of a coaching position for the last 11 years, the King has always been vocal as to how players should be playing and on the management of the club. It therefore made sense that when the position became vacant, the King would be the best person for the job.

In the past, we have seen the King play some lovely attacking football, setting up a traditional 4-4-2 formation. He likes one winger to be getting chalk on their boots down the line, and the other being able to tuck as a central midfielder if need be. We'll most likely see Stevie Gerrard move into the centre forward position playing behind the striker. There will be a lot more freedom for the players to express themselves and not be afraid to move forward with confidence. With any luck, we will see a return to the Liverpool of old.

King Kenny's first battle will be against Sir Alex Ferguson's side in the FA Cup. It will be interesting to see whether or not there is an instant change in the attitude of the players or whether the changes will take time to unfold. Either way, this should be a cracker of a match.
