The Surgeon - clinical. There, we said it.

It was a different Vitezslav Lavicka in the post-match press conference than has been seen in recent weeks. There was an air of relief, a smile on his face, and even jokes and laughing. He had kind words for new recruit Juho Makela, but reinforced his intention of slowly bringing him into the first 11.

"Every player likes to play in the starting line-up. Me personally and all of us here are happy that Juho is here because we identified him in Europe."

"He is a natural striker, a goal-scorer, so he is keen to play but he needs more time to settle because he came from northern Europe. The weather there and here in Australia - there is a big difference".

Makela talked fondly of his first soiree at the SFS, speaking at length and obviously excited.

"It's always a fantastic feeling to score, especially today because this was my first home game here in Sydney. It means the world to me".

It was quite clear that Juho is still getting familiar with his teammates, twice mixing up the names of players he referred to.

"I missed the first chance, it was a great cross from Scott I think. Or was it Shannon? I should have scored from that, but I got another chance. A great cross from, ah, Rob [Seb Ryall]..."

No doubt they will forgive him, however, as he showed class in all areas of his game - even his goal celebration was notable.

"It was unfortunate that the fence came down. Hopefully everything is okay with everybody. I'm sorry about that. We learn from those and next time I won't go so close!"

It seems Makela might have been dreading his decision to join FC during the time between his trial and tonight's game, Sydney's form dropping considerably. But it was evident he is enjoying the club so far.

"When I was here on trial I saw the game against Perth Glory in Parramatta. I saw the same kind of performance that I have seen now twice. I was five games away, and I don't know. In that period things weren't so good here but now I see smiling faces and I see good confidence in the dressing room"

Sydney FC's next task is Melbourne Victory on the 15th. At home again, Sydney, and Makela, will be hoping to secure all three points and continue their late season form.
