This is the Football Haircut Matrix (click image to enlarge). It's an experiment of on-pitch quality set against hairstyle. It's also the only time Gareth Barry will ever be the epicentre of anything.

I have to admit that this comic gets markedly less interesting towards the bottom-left. I hope you'll appreciate the challenges I faced in making Gary Caldwell eye-catching (for something other than his electrifyingly shonky defending, that is). If you find yourself bored by this section of the Matrix, just take a deep breath and let your eyes wander back to Carlos Valderrama. That magnificent hair will make everything better.

P.S. Congratulations to Brisbane fans, and condolences to Mariners followers (here's looking at you, kid). Most of all, though, well done to the Hyundai A-League for catching international attention with a genuinely engaging Grand Final. I live in England and I've never heard Australian football talked about so much by people other than me.
