Melbourne Heart have released experienced defender Michael Beauchamp by mutual consent in order for the player to sign a three year deal with Sydney FC. The 30 year old was part of Heart's inaugural side and made 19 starts in the team's debut season.
Melbourne coach John van Schip felt a smooth transition to Sydney was the right thing to do.
“Given the opportunity that presented itself at Sydney FC, we feel that we had an obligation to allow Michael to grab the chance to play first team football and secure his long term future as a professional.
“We would like to thank Michael for his efforts at Heart and wish him well for the future.”
Beauchamp will join a Sydney defense that is again looking to rebuild, with Matt Jurman (Brisbane) and Sung-Hwan Byun (Newcastle) taking up contracts at other Hyundai A-League clubs.
