WA 'All Flags' State League: Round Six

Inglewood United fell 3-1 to Perth SC at 6PR Stadium on Saturday afternoon. Craig Simpson opened the scoring for Perth, converting with his head from an Oliviera corner after 18 minutes. Perth’s lead didn’t last long as Nbumba Makeche scored a great solo goal to make it 1-1. The turning point in the game came when Inglewood defender Dave McNally was sent off for a last man challenge 27 minutes in. Matt Danskin then put the vistors in front, before Onoforo wrapped it up for Perth in the 75th minute.

Balcatta made the long trip down to Alfred Skeet Oval to face Armadale. Steve Burton put Balcatta in the lead after four minutes. It stayed 1-0 as the teams went in for half time and it was another goal quickly after the restart when Ashley rosindale eluded the offside trap and fired into the roof of the net. The game ended 2-0 and kept Balcatta four points ahead at the top of the league table.

ECU Joondalup hosted last years runners up Western Knights at the aptly named ECU Joondalup Stadium A. The Knights played some great football, culminating in Simon Versaico putting his side ahead in the 26th minute. Matters got worse for ECU when Versaico doubled his tally just seven minutes later. Scott Blackmore was shown red in the dying minutes as ECU’s frustrations boiled over. The win helped Western Knights leapfrog ECU Joondalup and into second place.

Sorrento’s trip down to Mandurah City was a fruitful one. Although missing former Perth Glory legend Jamie Harnwell the Gulls were bolstered by the return of Todd Harnwell and Daryl Platten to the squad. Sorrento dominated against the home side in the early stages but the teams went in level at half time. Shaun Timmins put the visitors 1-0 up two minutes into the second half. Jason Mirco made it two after 63 minutes but Mandurah were not without chances with Ryan Townsend going close after a goalmouth scramble. Andy Brown pulled one back for Mandurah with a brilliant low drive from outside the box into the bottom corner, but it was too little too late.



A passionate crowd was on hand to witness Stirling Lions defeat Bayswater 4-2 at Macedonia Park on Sunday. Stirling took the lead through Scott Muirhead against the run of play when he fired a low shot from the corner of the box on 32 minutes. Jamie De Abreu doubled the lead two minutes later, calmly sliding the ball past an onrushing Gianni Papalia. George Tchami scored for the visitors with a towering header from a Damien Catalano corner. After the break Gustavo Marulanda equalised with a stunning volley that ricocheted off the post and in. Stirling were awarded a penalty and Phil O’Callaghan converted from the spot. Jamie Watt put the game to rest scoring Stiring’s fourth in the 74th minute.



Cockburn defeated NTC by two goals to one. Matches against the NTC are not contested for points, and their results will not be included on the table.
