Hume City are on top of the Victorian Premier League standings following their 1-1 draw against Dandenong at Broadmeadows Valley Park. Both sides began the match with a very slow and cautious approach, holding the ball well in the middle providing a very tense opening. With few chances in the opening period, the visitors took the lead with the first real threat going forward with new signing Scott Webster crossing from the right whose ball was met by Tomic in the six yard box who outjumped the Hume defence and gave Hume the lead. The visitors failed to double their advantage in the second period and paid for it. Young gun Atilla Ofli put a cross into the box which was headed down by Steve Pace to the feet of Richie Cardozo who easily scored the equaliser. In the last fifteen minutes both sides had their opportunities however failed to take advantage.
RICHMOND – NORTHCOTE CITY 1-1
After last week’s shock victory away to Dandenong, Richmond were unable to grab all three points against Northcote, which would have seen them keep the pressure on the top five. After a goalless first half the home side took the lead courtesy of an own goal after the Northcote defence seemed to be hesitant causing a deflection from Adriano Chiappetta to hand the home side an own goal. The lead barely lasted five minutes however as a cross from Jason Trifiro found Konstandinidis in the box to chip in the equaliser. Richmond are now eight points adrift from the top five while Northcote are fifth on 26 points.
ST.ALBANS SAINTS – GREEN GULLY 1-3
The Saints troubles keep worsening following another defeat, this time at the hands of the Cavaliers. A Matthew Sanders double saw the visitors go into the break with a two goal cushion. St.Albans made it a contest straight from the second half kickoff following a brilliant build up play which led to a tap in by Louis Fenton. In the 63rd minute Jason Hayne ensured a comeback was not to be after a brilliant ball by Graham Hockless left him with only Pavlovic to beat to score Gully’s third for the day and heap further misery on the winless Saints.
SOUTH MELBOURNE – HEIDELBERG UNITED 0-0
South and Heidelberg played out a scoreless draw in a match that saw plenty of missed chances and controversies, although a goal was not to be seen. After several mistakes and loss of possession in the middle of the park, Heidelberg seemed to have gained an advantage heading into the last half hour after South Melbourne striker Jesse Krnevic was shown his marching orders. The visitors failed to take the advantage leaving them fourth in the standings, two points below their opposition South Melbourne.

MELBOURNE KNIGHTS – SPRINGVALE 5-0
What was considered a relegation six-pointer provided an easy victory for the struggling Knights who comfortably dismantled their visitors 5-0. Mathieu Welmant handed the hosts the lead with one minute remaining in the first period, with many expecting a close fight in the second half. It was not to be as young striker Jacob Colosimo scored a double in eleven minutes much to the delight of the home crowd, with Josip Kozic and Welmant grabbing his second in the last ten minutes to hand his side such much needed breathing space from the relegation spot.
