Pele Sports AU competition winners announced

Friday, January 06, 2012

Over the summer holidays The Football Sack have been giving you the chance to win Pele Sports Australia prizepacks. The response to our two competitions via Twitter and Facebook was overwhelming and we're happy to announce the winners of both competitions.

For the Facebook competition we asked you what your favorite moment was so far this Hyundai A-League season. There we many great responses, too many to mention, but here was our favorites:

Winner: Angus Morrissey

Entry: "Brisbane Roar's 36-game unbeaten streak coming to an end. On a miserable, cold and windy evening in Kogarah, for my beloved Sydney FC to defy the odds against the all-conquering Brisbane Roar was a remarkable moment in this season's A-League. Postecoglou's side had comfortably dispatched all who shared the turf with his team prior to the match, so for Sydney FC to turn in such an intense, courageous and dominant performance was without a doubt a major turning point this season and has set the scene progressively for numerous other teams to follow suit."

Angus for your great entry you've won the Facebook prizepack which features a pair of Radium futsal shoes worth $110, plus a bonus apparel pack including two t-shirts worth a further $110!

Runner Up: Matt Coleman

Entry: "The arrival of Kewell and Emerton. Whilst those two players specifically have not lived up to the pre-season hype, their arrivals, along with the unbeaten run of the Roar has upped interest in the local game to levels not seen since All Night Dwight. The key difference this season, however, has been the increase of professionalism and quality across all (most?) clubs, both on and off the pitch. Football will never appeal to everyone, but locally it has never been more credible."

Matt for your awesome response you've won our adulation and friendship!

The Twitter competition was decided immediately after the Melbourne derby, as we asked our followers to predict the game score, outcome and the first goalscorer. It was a phenomenal game, and a hard game to predict. Only one person did:

Winner: Marco MK

Entry: Correctly predicted the 3-2 win to Melbourne Heart with Archie Thompson scoring first.

Marco for your cleverness in predicting the derby you've won the Twitter prizepack featuring a pair of Pelé Sports 1970's football boots worth $200, plus a bonus apparel pack featuring t-shirts, hoody and a pair of shorts, worth a further $200!

Thankyou to all those that entered the competition. Keep your eyes peeled for more great competitions throughout the year!
