5 reasons to stop watching the A-League this week

Wednesday, October 10, 2012

Thought the start of the Hyundai A-League went off without a hitch and was one of the most exciting season starts ever? Think again.

You should stop watching the A-League. Hell, you should stop watching football completely after such a horrible weekend. Here's why.

1. Phoenix might win the league
Oh crap. We thought this day would never come - Wellington Phoenix could win the league this year. If the team from across the ditch qualifies for the Champions League, will it cause the entire Asian Football Confederation to explode? Or perhaps Oceania..

2. Del Piero was rubbish.
You want to focus a camera exclusively on this player? Without a team feeding him the ball all you're going to be watching is a player pulling up his socks for 90 minutes. Two million dollar man? More like 1.85 million.

3. Newcastle Jets didn't make their target of 11 000 members on time
The Novacastrian club only hit the big number yesterday. Sure, it's the second highest membership base in the league, but its just a thousand more than last year. What's a lazy grand between friends?

4. Not even Ange Postecoglou can save Melbourne Victory
Victory lost the Melbourne Derby. Again. But this year with Postecoglou they were expected to win every game and go 36 games unbeaten. It's another day of shame for Victory, and the Victory should die of shame.

5. The EPL is better and stuff
The Reds, Newcastle, the Sky Blue - these are the types of teams that I want to watch. The type of clubs you can't find anywhere else.
