Give football a home Western Australia

Wednesday, February 20, 2013

Western Australia’s governing body Football West today launched its campaign for a ‘Home of Football’ in the State.

A website as well as a promotional video featuring a number of recognisable faces went live today as Football West begins lobbying both the State Government and the Opposition ahead of March’s elections.

Fans can head to the new website and submit a form which will send details of the petition to the relevant political figures.

Football in WA is currently homeless, despite having more people participating in the game (106,000) than Australian Rules (96,000), and Football West would like a $20 million commitment to fund a centre of training excellence, a small competition venue, community facilities and an administrative headquarters.

Former Socceroo Stan Lazaradis, Perth Glory legends Jamie Harnwell and Bobby Despotovski, Perth Glory Women stars Collette McCallum and Kate Gill, Fox Sports reporter Daniel Gard and West Coast Eagles legend Glen Jaokovich all feature on the video which can be seen below.

For more details check out the Home of Football website or follow the #homeoffootball hashtag on Twitter.
