Where are they now? Brisbane Roar

Wannabe scout and The Football Sack contributor Tom Moxey takes a look at the former stars (or flops) of the A-League and find out where they are in their footballing careers since departing the league.

This week we look at Brisbane Roar and the likes of Reinaldo, Reddy and Nakajima-Farran.

1. Shin Tae-Yong - Inaugural Brisbane Roar midfielder Tae-Yong ended up retiring after playing just one game all season and decided to venture into management where he was the assistant coach at Brisbane Roar up until 2008. He then moved into his first and only head manager role with his former club Seongnam Illhwa Chunma where he won the Korean FA Cup (2011) and the Asian Champions League (2010).

2. Michael Baird (also formerly Perth Glory, Central Coast Mariners) - Since departing Brisbane Roar he went on to play for FC Universitatea Craiova in Romania where he made 67 appearances and scored 18 goals. He then returned home with Perth Glory and Central Coast Mariners briefly before heading to Malaysian side Sabah FA. He is now at Briabane Premier League club Penninsula Power after being released by Sabah.

3. Reinaldo - Australian citizen and former Roar striker Reinaldo has come and gone and come and gone again. He left Brisbane in 2008 briefly to play for Busan I'Park before returning to Roar for two more seasons. He then moved onto Qatari side Al-Wakrah then onto Saudi Arabian side Al-Raed. He is now unattached after a season with Joel Griffiths former side Beijing Guoan playing 17 games and scoring five goals.

4. Simon Lynch - Who remembers him!? Lynch was Brisbane's number nine for two seasons and ended up playing 36 games yet he only scored five times. He ended up returning to Scotland to play in the lower divisions before retiring in 2011 at the age of 29.

5. Liam Reddy (also formerly Newcastle Jets, Wellington Phoenix, Sydney FC) - Sydney FC fan favourite Liam Reddy has had a very up and down career and after leaving Sydney FC following controversial circumstances last season he ended up moving to Iranian side Esteghlal FC. He made no appearances and ended up getting released at the end of the season and has returned to play for Sydney United in the NSWPL.

6. Marcinho - I can't find too much on Marcinho although he is apparently applying his trade for fourth division (Group 9) Greek club Diagoras F.C. This comes with very unreliable information.

7. Charlie Miller (also formerly Gold Coast United) - Good old Charlie Miller ended his playing career at Ayr United in the Scottish second division making five appearances after leaving Gold Coast United in 2010.

8. Sasa Ognenovski (also formerly Adelaide United) - The Socceroo spent three successful years at Seongnam Illhwa Chunma which included winning the ACL and since he has been applying his trade for Umm Salal SC in Qatar and is the club captain.

9. Matt Mckay - The former Brisbane Roar captain has just been transferred to Chinese first division club Changchun Yatai F.C. after spending a season and a half with Korean club Busan I'Park. He made his league debut a couple of days ago where he played the full 90 minutes.

10. Mario Karlovic - Six game Roar midfielder Mario Karlovic is currently playing for Indonesian side Persebaya 1927 where he joined in 2011 after playing for another fellow Indonesian side Minangkabau FC.

11. Kosta Barbarouses (also formerly Wellington Phoenix) - Kosta came to life in his one season with the Roar scoring eleven goals in 33 appearances and winning the elusive double. He then attracted interest from Russian side Alania Vladikavkaz  and was sold for a reported $600,000. He ended up playing a handful of games and at the beginning of this season he got loaned to Greek giants Panathinaikos where he has played eleven games thus far for no goals.

12. Jean Carlos Solorzano (also formerly Melbourne Victory) - Jean Carlos along side Barbarouses were key players in the Roar's double in 2010-11 and along with Kosta he bagged eleven goals on loan from Costa Rican side LD Alajuelense. After one season with the Roar he moved to Victory where he suffered the second year flop playing eleven games and scoring zip. He returned to his home club where he has so far played seven games and scored none this season.

13. Adam Sarota, Michael Zullo, Tommy Oar - Ever heard of triple trouble? Well this is it. Just after the 2009-10 season ended Dutch club FC Utrecht homed in on Brisbane and took three of their rising stars. All three still remain at the club with Oar making the most impact since his arrival making several "team of the weeks" including the current one. All three players have made over thirty appearances and have all made their debuts for the Socceroos.

14. Kofi Danning (also formerly Sydney FC) - Kofi moved to Brisbane's sister club C.S. Vise at the beginning of the season and made four appearances until he suffered a season ending knee injury. As far as we know he is on a one year contract although the club can activate a second year option.

15. Issey Nakajima-Farran - When Issey was pushed out of the Roar side when the ACL started he departed for Cypriot first division club AEK Larnaca. He played ten games and scored one goal until he strangely got loaned to cross town rivals Alki Larnaca (who are also in the first division) - they even play in the exact same stadium as AEK. He has made seven appearances for them so far scoring one goal.

16. Sayed Mohamed Adnan - That free kick against Sydney FC. That's what I remember of him anyway. He ended up leaving Roar as he wanted to return home to his family so he signed for hometown club Al-Arabi SC. He didn't make any appearances and ended up getting released at the end of the season. Adnan is now without a club.
