'Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the league,
Players enjoyed a quick rest and forgot their fatigue.
The ladder took shape with some large surprises,
As teams slowly emerged from their pre-season guises.
The Roar were nestled all snug at the top,
With Besart's striking separating them from the crop.
The Wanderers in second to match their second season,
Made the RBB happy with very good reason.
Melbourne Victory clung to third through a shaky year,
With the Northern Terrace finally returning to cheer.
The Jets sat fourth despite losing three from four,
And fans were yet to see Emile Heskey score.
Sydney started slow but climbed to fifth place,
With Del Piero's influence keeping them in the race.
The Mariners slumped down all the way to sixth spot,
Unlikely to retain their championship like many thought.
Gallas arrived at Perth but was rarely on the park,
Seventh all they could manage, well below the pass mark.
Eighth-placed Adelaide have been criticised all season,
Although Gombau struggled to understand the reason.
In ninth was Wellington, whose one win was not up to standard,
Leaving them open to be brutally slandered.
Finally in last was poor Melbourne Heart,
Coach Aloisi likely to be sacked ahead of the restart.
As teams settled into their positions and hoped for better on return,
More happened in the A-League that caused joy and concern.
Germany-bound Yeboah's celebration showed he can be athletic,
While Wellington's travels continued to be pathetic.
Perth Glory signed Gallas to sure up the defence,
And people continued to laugh at Melbourne Heart's expense.
Victory fans and officials bickered over new rules,
While the Mariners' brass band made them look quite the tools.
The Jets' Nathan Burns scored for the first time in years,
And Gombau did his best to reduce Val to tears.
With the interesting part of the season ahead,
A-League cheer and positivity should be spread.
And for those that thought this attempt poetic parody was alright,
Happy Christmas to all, and to all a good night!
