Twitter For Dummies: Top 10 Twitter football fails

Tuesday, October 14, 2014

In the fast-paced, globalised and technologically advanced world of the 21st century, players, journalists and clubs are using social media as a platform to expose the latest football news.

While it also offers up information gold nuggets, social media can sometimes create hilarious Twitter fails.

Here's a list of 10 of the best football Twitter fails and hilarious posts from around the country and Europe.

10. Whoever was covering the live-tweeting, was clearly enjoying the game much more than they should have. Reminder for aspiring journos: close your explicit material before using Twitter on match day and both hands on the keyboard where we can see them.

9. Something just isn't right about the match day hashtag. Or it's incredibly right. That's in the eye of the beholder.

8. This is just wrong. I wonder how Irina Shayk feels about this...

7. Considering beards are the facial hair trend in 2014, it is no wonder why Jose wants to take a contemporary spin on such a classic and become the new 'it' guy this season. Not too sure if his Hitler mustache will be the next facial hair hit for 2015..

6. Manchester City created a designated timeslot on Twitter for its supporters to ask signing Jesus Navas questions using the hashtag #ASKJESUS. Could the real Jesus please stand up?

I don't know what's more awkward the fact that she thought Jesus had twitter or the fact that she didn't understand that people can be named Jesus.

5. The first step is always acceptance and it's good to see the staff of the North Queensland Fury openly acknowledging their lack of relevance in the Hyundai A-League.

4. Just a friendly reminder to never link your online dating profile to your phone applications like Twitter, Facebook or Instagram, especially if you're the media manager at Adelaide United FC. However, we here at The Football Sack do sincerely hope he found some decent matches...

3. Have you ever got someone's birth date wrong? Have you ever got your own daughter's birth date incorrect? Raheem Sterling has done both of these.

2. Zlatan Ibrahimovic's "Dare to Zlatan" Nike Campaign enabled fans to tweet the Swedish football legend for tips and tricks to be more like him.

He even requested for the character count on twitter to be changed, just for him, the night before the promotion.

No, a sane man probably wouldn't.

1. Certainly, the best ever Twitter fail came from our own domestic league. To the A-League IT guy: you had one job.

It's fantastic that you have created a 2014/15 Hyundai A-League application for mobile devices, one that is easy to use for all supporters. But it was so easy to use, that it enabled people to log into the official Twitter account and tweet about the security fail.

You had one job.
