There were important first victories for Subiaco and ECU Joondalup, whilst Armadale remains rooted to the bottom.

Bayswater City 3 (Heagney 17’, 71’, Sam 34’)

David Heagney grabbed a double as Bayswater took the honours in the top-of-the-table clash with Perth SC in an exciting contest. The hosts grabbed the lead when Heagney popped up at the back post, before Borbor Sam extended their lead before the break with a lovely curled effort. Perth worked their way back into the game in the second half and were rewarded when Ash Rosindale scored from close-range. Heagney restored City’s two-goal buffer when he fired home in the penalty box, but Harley Orr responded to set up a tense finish. However, the home side held on to consolidate top spot.
Subiaco 3 (Dorling 17’, Milne 30’, 54’ PEN)
Perth Glory 1 (Costello 29’)

Subiaco recorded their first win of the year with a comfortable victory over Perth Glory. The home side took the lead after a quarter of an hour when Jonas Derling punished an error by Glory goalkeeper Jordan Franken. Perth drew level through Nathan Costello, but a minute later Daniel Milne restored Subiaco’s lead. The home side started strongest after the break and when Rory Feely won a penalty, Milne stepped up to make the points safe.
Armadale 2 (Crerand 16’, Bealey 52’)
Cockburn City 3 (Carroll 56’, Patterson 69’, Teles 71’)

A stunning, second-half comeback from Cockburn City saw them extend Armadale’s winless start to the season. Armadale started brightest and took the lead when Nick Crerand reacted quickest to a loose ball in the box. They looked to be on their way to their first points of the season when Jackson Bealey converted from close range, only for Alan Carroll to immediately respond for Cockburn. City pressed for an equalizer and were rewarded when Rory Patterson capitalized on a goal-mouth scramble, and a few minutes later took the lead through a Julian Teles strike. The visitors overcame the late dismissal of Patterson to resign Armadale to another week at the foot of the table.
Inglewood United 1 (Izzo 43’)
Balcatta 1 (Tong 79’)
Inglewood Stadium
Balcatta continued their unbeaten start whilst preventing Inglewood from winning their first game of the season. Inglewood’s Matthew Izzo broke the deadlock when he curled home a free kick on the stroke of half time. Balcatta skipper Adam Tong was moved forward from his usual centre back position in search of a goal, and rewarded the bold move with a late equalizer. Tong nearly grabbed a winner in injury time, only for United’s goalkeeper Aleks Vrteski to make superb stop and rescue a point.
Stirling Lions 0
Floreat Athena 1 (McMahon 12’ PEN)
Macedonia Park
Floreat won their third straight game in a hard-fought contest with Stirling. Athena captain Lewis McMahon was bought down inside the area and converted the subsequent penalty to put Floreat ahead early. From there on in, both sides battled hard but the Lions were unable to find the killer touch in front of goal, leaving the home team as the victors.
Sorrento 1 (Killkelly 28’)
ECU Joondalup 2 (Dixon 20’, Stynes 84’)

ECU’s John Stynes grabbed a late winner to secure his team’s first win of the campaign. Danny Dixon opened the scoring for the visitors when he finished off a well-worked team move, before Shaun Killkelly levelled the scores for Sorrento soon after. In a tight second half devoid of many chances, ECU’s Tommy Amphlett missed an open goal, but his blushes were spared by Stynes, whose tap in six minutes from time secured a much-needed win.
