Broadmeadow Magic again showed why many have them tipped to go all the way this season putting five goals past the Jets, while at the other end of table Maitland scored their first win of the season to move out of last place.

Edgeworth FC 3 (Hammel, Tannock, Olzomer)

It was a big match for both teams with players and supporters celebrating the life of Gunners diehard Sam Taylor who passed away the Monday beforehand at just 23 years old. Edgeworth midfield Brody Taylor took to the field for his older brother and put in a sterling performance in front of a massive crowd at Ulinga Oval.
Edgeworth took the lead after just 18 minutes when Bren Hammel drove a stunning free kick into the top corner on his return from suspension. While the Gunners grew into the match it was Edgeworth’s Justin Tannock who converted next giving the visitors a 2-0 lead at the break.
The Eagles added a third shortly after the break through Brenton Olzomer off a scrappy corner. South Cardiff responded immediately thanks to Jung Sang-deok who earlier in the match missed a one-on-one but it was to no avail with Edgeworth seeing out the match 3-1.

The match was scheduled for Saturday but heavy rain during the week forced the match to be reschedule to Sunday afternoon. Adamstown were buoyed by the mid-week signing of former Newcastle Jet and Olyroo Travis Cooper after he was told he was not need at the old Nathan Tinkler run Jets.
Lambton got the scoring underway early when John Majurovski’s volley found the back of the net in just the third minute. Garry Kenneth equalised for the visiting Roesbud just before the break after Adamstown dominated much of the opening period.
Both teams were desperate to grab all three points as they look to stay in touch with the leaders but neither team could find a telling touch to secure the win and the match finished 1-1 and a missed opportunity for both clubs.
Maitland FC 3 (Martin, Read, McGuire)

Both teams were desperate for a win as they fight to keep their finals hopes alive. It was Maitland who looked more desperate in the opening stages and they took the lead through Ben Martin and double their advantage before the break thanks to Alex Read.
Maitland continued to look the better of the two teams in the second as Charlestown equally didn’t look like coming back into the match. Any hopes of a revival were squash when Harry McGuire added a third for the Magpies to secure all three points.
The victory allowed Maitland to move off the foot of the table and sees Charlestown inherit the cellar with a tough trip to meet Olympic on the cards next weekend.

In a big coupe for the home team Robbie Turnbull made his 200th appearance for the Bears but it was the Olympic who drew first blood after Jacob Bailey reacted quickest and found the net after a scrappy corner.
Weston’s Troy Hearfield ensured the two teams went into a break all-square after scoring with a blister 25 metre striker after having the ball squared off to him from Garry McDermott following a Nathan Morris free kick.
Kane Goodchild continued his scoring form with two goals in the second half to secure a 3-1 victory for the visitors despite having a penalty saved by Weston keeper Tim Pratt late in the first half. The win sees Olympic sit in second spot on the ladder and hot on the heels of Broadmeadow, while the Bears still look in good shape in fourth spot.

This match was scheduled to open the round but the wet weather forced the match to be moved to Monday night. While fans were forced to wait for the match there was plenty of action once it was underway as Broadmeadow’s Daniel Casciaroli finishing a slick team move in just the third minute.
However, the scores were levelled just moments later when Ben Hay’s strike powered towards Magic keeper Nathan Archibald who could do nothing more than deflect it into his own goal. Peter Haynes restored Olympic’s one goal advantage just over five minutes later with a 20-yard volley.
From that point on Magic dominated the rest of the half with a calm finish in the box from Dino Fajkovic and double to Kyle Bradbury giving Broadmeadow a 5-1 lead just before the break. Michael Kantarovski pulled one back for the Jets moments before the half-time whistle to give the Jets a glimmer of hope but a scoreless second period saw the match finish 5-2 and the Magic continue on as league leaders.
