Roar claim their bogey side

The Brisbane Roar have won their first away game this season with a 2-1 victory over Perth Glory in injury time at NIB stadium tonight.

Rocky Visconte managed to toe home a Mitch Nichols through ball to seal a well deserved win for the Roar.

The Roar dominated the majority of proceedings, however, it seemed the game would end in a draw as Perth searched for a way through the Brisbane defence in the dying minutes in an attempt to snatch a late goal against their bogey side.

However, Brisbane regained their composure to claim a much needed away win.

The game started with a flurry as Thomas Broich capitalised on some lazy defence from Glory defender Andy Todd to set Reinaldo up for a tap-in a metre out from goal.

The Glory hit back moments after with a beautifully weighted corner from Robbie Fowler, which found its way to the head of Mile Sterjovski, before rebounding off onto the head of Scott Neville who finally put the ball into the back of the net.

The game was a one-sided affair as Brisbane's shots on goal almost tripled those of the Glory, however, they struggled to finish several smooth plays orchestrated by new Socceroo, Matt McKay.

The slick Roar midfield kept pressing, although lacked the finishing spark. Ange Postecoglou injected Olyroo, Mitch Nichols, into the attack who proved to be the catalyst the Roar needed.

Nichols had several shots on goal and was unlucky to be called offside when the video replay revealed he was well within his rights to play the ball. Unfortunately for the Roar, Nichols also received a yellow card for continuing to put the ball in the back of the net after the call had been made.

The Roar have proved they are a serious contender in this year's competition, showing that they can now win on the road, however, questions still remain after failing to put away a Perth side whom they dominated for the majority of the match.

For the Glory, this is their fourth loss after such a positive start to the season. They now languish in seventh spot and need to re-kindle that early season form.

The Glory now have to travel to Townsville to play an unpredictable Fury, whilst the Roar get to play Newcastle at home.
