Glory-ous Slumber

Apologies for the late match report, but that’s an unfortunate side effect of watching Perth Glory directly after a Brisbane Roar match; you inevitably fall asleep during the game and wake to find you have a match report due eleven hours ago! Lesson learnt, but I digress.

The match itself finished at a nil-nil, which is a fitting result for a match I fell asleep to, as it means little , if anything, was missed. Some of the non-goalscorers included Andy Todd, Tando Velaphi and Justin Bieber.

Highlights included the Melbourne Heart away strip, the fact that no matter how hard Perth try they are still not as bad as Bolton Wanderers, and that there was nothing else good on television that you were missing by watching the game.

In all seriousness, Perth showed more than they had in previous weeks, though still couldn’t move away from the bullying tactics they have insisted upon all season (obviously to great effect - what’s more impressive than 8th on the table with the worst goal difference?).

As long as they continue to bury their head in the sand and refuse to come to terms with the necessity of having an adequate coach (continental European or correctly trained Australian), they will never succeed on the pitch. Glory is in need of a giant clear out and shake up.

For the Heart, they may well be disappointed to not have snatched a win against the poorest side in the competition, but in fairness they did play on the previous Sunday and had quite a trip to make. The second Melbourne team are on the up, and it won’t be out of the question for Heart to make finals or even better – to finish ahead of the Victory at season’s end.
