Juniors on the grass

This weekend, Sydney FC will allow all children onto the field 15 minutes after play has concluded. There will be a siren after Sydney host Newcastle Jets, and then children can enter from the perimeter gates at the bottom of bays 1 and 2.

“This is a rare opportunity for all our young boys and girls to experience what it is like to play football on the same pitch as their idols,” Sydney FC Edwin Lugt said.

The last time the public were allowed onto the pitch at an A-league game, when Central Coast Mariners were returfing their ground, no-one waited for the 15 minute siren, and players were mobbed by thousands of fans. Whilst it was fantastic to witness, it might not have been as fun, or safe, for the players. Will this week's post match be a repeat? Will the adult public refrain from taking the field and let their children have all the fun?
