BENTLEIGH GREENS – SOUTH MELBOURNE 1-0
Bentleigh Greens leapfrogged South Melbourne to go sixth after a 1-0 home victory over their potential finals rival on Friday night. A goal by Wayne Wallace after 32 minutes was all that was needed for the Greens to win their second in a row after five consecutive draws. The visitors are down to seventh after a bad run of form which has seen them win only one game in the last six matches.

GREEN GULLY – MELBOURNE KNIGHTS 2-0
On Saturday afternoon, Green Gully kept themselves within three points of Bentleigh who lie fifth after a comfortable two nil victory over the struggling Melbourne Knights. The home side took the lead after only two minutes through former Hyundai A-League star Simon Storey who with a vicious strike hit the back of the net. However that’s all the contribution Storey could make in the contest after suffering an injury and being replaced after five minutes. Graham Hockless sealed the three points for Gully with fifteen minutes to go as his free kick from thirty yards somehow found its way in. Knights woes continue as they are now winless in eight games and remain tenth on goal difference, while Green Gully have improved in recent weeks as they extended their unbeaten run to five games.

NORTHCOTE CITY – ST.ALBANS SAINTS 2-0
Although winning the match, Northcote struggled throughout the ninety minutes as the Saints were resolute at the back however their lack of production cost them yet again. Goals by Trent Rixon in the dying seconds of the first half and late tap in by Dean Piermonte were enough to brush off the winless Saints. The win however came at a cost, as in-form striker Trent Nixon was sent off after receiving his second yellow card. Northcote remain in fourth on twenty five points, while St.Albans remain bottom and seem destined for the drop with only three points.

DANDENONG THUNDER – RICHMOND EAGLES 1-2
In the surprise result of the round, Richmond defeated heavily favoured Dandenong at George Andrews Reserve. Michael Ferrante handed the visitors the lead in the 21st minute, while Devon Bonne made the task tougher for the home side as his strike gave the visitors a two goal cushion heading into the break. Liam Kearney managed to pull one back for the home side in the 90th minute to ensure a nervy ending to the match, however a comeback was not on the cards as the Eagles hung on for the points. The visitors are now seven points away from fifth, which is occupied by the Thunder, who are now preparing for a tough contest against Hume City on Saturday.

SPRINGVALE - OAKLEIGH CANNONS 0-1
Oakleigh remain top of the Victorian Premier League after a late goal by striker James Robinson was enough to see off Springvale. In a hard-fought contest the visitors finally broke the deadlock with 17 minutes remaining to ensure their lead over rivals Hume City remained intact. With this defeat Springvale remain on twelve points, level with Melbourne Knights however their poor goal difference sees them currently occupying the relegation spot.

HEIDELBERG UNITED – HUME CITY 0-3
Hume City are keeping the pressure on the Cannons after another solid and convincing performance against third-placed Heidelberg. Heidelberg goalkeeper Griffin Mcmaster was at fault for the opening two goals, as he failed to clear his lines which led to goals for Richie Cardozo and Atilla Ofli. With ten minutes remaining new signing Pece Siveski scored his first goal on debut with a sweet effort from outside the area. Heidelberg are now preparing for a tough battle against rivals South Melbourne, while Hume will play host to Dandenong Thunder.
