Green Gully are the Victorian Premier League Minor Premiers after an amazing day of football.

No fewer than four clubs had a hand on the minor premiership throughout the 90 minutes
Here is a blow by blow account of how the day went and the roller coaster ride the clubs in Finals contention were on.

At the start of the day the top six ladder looked like this:

1. HUME CITY 42 (Points) +18 (Goal Difference)
2. OAKLEIGH CANNONS 42 +12
3. HEIDELBERG UTD 40 +29
4. GREEN GULLY 40 +23
5. SOUTH MELBOURNE 40 +6
6. NORTHCOTE CITY 38 +24


The matches of interest were:

Melbourne Knights (10th) at home to Hume City
Oakleigh vs Dandenong (9th)
South Melbourne v Northcote City
Bentleigh (7th) v Green Gully
Springvale (12th) vs Heidelberg


All games had a 3pm kick off, giving no team an advantage.

4' Northcote equalise through goal scoring machine Trent Rixon
Hume back on top

18' Ederado for puts Heidelberg 1-0 over lowly Springvale
Heidelberg now sit top

20' Andy Vargas scores for Green Gully
Gully move into second, Heidelberg on top

24' Springvale amazingly equalise
Gully go top, Heidelberg drop down to 4th.

24' Voulgaris scores for Northcote City they lead South Melbourne 2-1
Northcote now in 5th place at the expense of South Melbourne

33' Trent Rixon scores again. Northcote lead 3-1
No change in ladder

38' South Melbourne pull one back 3-2 to Northcote

40' Jacob Colosimo scores for the Knights
With Gully winning, a draw is no longer good enough for Hume

41' League leading scorer and A-League target Richie Cardozo levels the game up for Hume

41' South Melbourne equalise through a Steven Wier wonder free kick
South Melbourne back into the five, Northcote out

44' the Colonel (Matthew Sanders) puts Green Gully two to the good.

50' Hockless all but seals the game up for Green Gully 3-0
No change to ladder

53' Cardozo again for Hume City 2-1

54' Zoric astonishingly puts Springvale ahead 2-1 over Heidelberg
South move up to 3rd, Heidelberg who were on top half an hour ago drop down to 5th

55' Daniel Jones adds another for Green Gully 4-0

67' Oakleigh score
Green Gully drop to 3rd, Hume on top

68 'Cain Vincent scores for the Knights 2-2 with Hume
Oakleigh are now top for the first time today, Hume drop to 3rd

68' Unbelievably Dandenong get the equaliser a minute later through Sherbon
Green Gully back on top. Oakleigh back to 3rd.

81' Green Gully now 5-0 up on Bentleigh

85' Knights go ahead 3-2
Hume who were on top at the start of the day are now 3rd.

89' Springvale go 3-1 on Heidelberg who won 7-2 midweek vs VTC
(Only Springvale's 3rd win of the season)

90+2 Alinejad makes it four for the Knights, 4-2 Hume were nine points clear four weeks ago.


Its all over.

What a day.
Green Gully are the unlikeliest of Minor Premiers in a day which saw four teams on top at different stages.
