Vidosic to debut for Adelaide United in grudge match

Thursday, October 13, 2011

Melbourne Victory will face a near capacity crowd as well as a fired up Adelaide United this Friday, with both teams looking to register their first win of the season.

The clash has added significance for the Reds with Australian marquee player Dario Vidosic set to make his Hyundai A-League debut. Vidosic warns Melbourne that they won’t be getting it all their own way when they take the field at Hindmarsh Stadium.

“We want to put on a good show tomorrow night for our fans and for ourselves, and we want to prove to everyone that last week was just a small hiccup, but now we’re at home, this is our fortress and we’re not going to let any team come away from here with an easy three points,” Vidosic said.

Adelaide Head Coach Rini Coolen has confirmed Vidosic will feature in the match but is undecided on whether he’ll start the 24-year-old midfielder.

“It’s a good game for him to come in, whether that’s from the bench or in the starting eleven,” Coolen said.

“One thing is for sure, we can’t ask him to play 90 minutes, but he’s fit, he feels good, so he will be there for part of the game.”

Former Roar and FC Nuremburg player, Vidosic, believes United will face a stern test but won’t be caught out by focusing their attention on star signing Harry Kewell.

“We want to treat it as though there are 11 Harry Kewells out there,” Vidosic said.

“Every single player brings quality to their team…so tomorrow night we’re looking for a scalp and it’s one for our fans as well.”

All match day tickets to the game have been sold with season tickets the only option for fans hoping to get a glimpse of Adelaide’s number 10 in action.
