Hey everyone,I’ve had a bit of a dry spell on the blog front over the past few weeks…
As a team we didn’t get too much of a break over the Christmas period due to fixtures so I stayed in the Melbourne area for the few days we did get off.
It has to be said, Christmas doesn’t feel like Christmas when its 30 degrees outside…
I still can’t get my head around walking though shopping centre’s wearing flip-flops, shorts and a singlet seeing Christmas trees and decorations listening to jingle bells! Mind you, Im not complaining!

I spent the festive period with my Melbourne family (teammate Caitlin Friend’s family) who I’ve lived with all season. This is the time of year when I miss my family the most so it was really nice to have my second family around, I am very fortunate they let me live here.
I’ve come to the conclusion that the only downside of an Australian-Italian xmas is too much Panettone! #temptationatitsfinest
Highlights of the month:
- Making playoffs
- Melbourne Summer ---> Wednesday nights at Vic Market… Amazing food and vibes!
- Enrolling in a coffee course… Best xmas gift ever!
- Brianna Davey successfully winning our season challenge by using the team “word” of the season in an ABC interview (watch until the end of the highlights - can anyone guess what it is?)
In terms of football, the past month or so has felt very stop start. With the break over Christmas and then a bye weekend it has been quite challenging to keep a routine and stay focused on the season. Given the circumstances I think the girls have done extremely well to remain focused, keeping the last few matches of the season the number one priority.
With the regular season over its crunch time! Since we finished 4th on the ladder we face undefeated Premiers Canberra United on Saturday. Both games we’ve played against Canberra this season have been close encounters; a 2-1 loss and 1-1 draw respectively.
They have some quality players and are a very good team but we’ve been getting better and gaining more confident each week… Our semi-final will be a great match-up!!
