With Brisbane taking three points off the top-of-the-table Mariners at Gosford, the race towards finals becomes even more interesting with a host of clubs trying to ‘stirrup’ some trouble in the ‘race to finals football’ (See what I did there?).
While the Mariners look safe, seven points ahead of their nearest rival, the rest of the teams will ‘jockey’ for a place in the finals as the regular season comes to a close.

Reddy over Bolton? |
It was a great day to be an ex-Sydney player this weekend with three getting on the scoresheet in a 5-2 win for the Newcastle Jets. Another who would be pleased to have relocated south is Clint Bolton, the former Sky Blues gloveman handing the reins to Liam Reddy who faced a horror day between the sticks.
It would appear that power is running out on the ‘EverReddy’ brand of batteries, while patience is running thin for Sydney’s poor season which promised so much.

Remember the days of the old school yard? |
Welcome to another edition of our Magilton Mania! Jim just can’t catch a break after enduring another stalemate, this time a scoreless draw with bitter rivals Melbourne Heart. What is the answer for the Victory? Mark Bosnich has called for Kevin Muscat to dust off the boots and return to the field. How would you turn Melbourne’s season around with time running out?

Maybe he ‘fell’ into the lifeboat as well? |
After announcing he will step down from the club, Vitezslav Lavicka’s players failed to send the Czech manager out on a high, floundering to a 5-2 loss to the Jets.
The Sky Blues have only won two games since December 17 and Lavicka looks to be abandoning ship faster than Costa Concordia captain Francesco Schettino.

A little known fact that Ricki Herbert loves pun |
Ricki Herbert says that every team has that one ‘special’ player. Someone who can turn a game on its head with a piece of individual brilliance. The New Zealand coach has Paul Ifill and says he’s one of the best to ever grace the Hyundai A-League.
After putting on a master class down the wings at Hindmarsh in a 2-1 win over the Reds it’s hard to argue with Ricki, but what do you think? Is the Barbadian (forget the English accent, the FFA have him listed as hailing from Barbados) in the elite of A-League talent?
That’s all for now so I’ll stop horsing around. Until next week!
