Ono penalty seals Wanderers double

Rarely in the past few seasons could you say Brisbane's attack has failed them, but another 1-0 loss has consigned Rado Vidosic's side to equal bottom.

Western Sydney completed a rare double over the champions at Parramatta Stadium on Sunday, surviving a second half onslaught to hand Roar their fifth lone-goal loss this season.

Roar blew the first proper chance of the match inside five minutes through Besart Berisha's attempt to chip Ante Covic when positioned to really test the veteran 'keeper.

Western Sydney hit back with their true intentions just a few minutes later when Youssouf Hersi danced around Henrique in attack before unleashing a venomous strike onto the underside of the bar and away from goal.

The goalmouth action continued up to the half hour mark with Halloran and Ono wasting chances, and the profligacy mean the teams went into the break 0-0.

Brisbane, running with the wind, began to assert their dominance in the second half but still continued to suffer the same ills in decision-making that was plaguing the Wanderers.

But despite the second-half dominance of the visitors, Western Sydney again managed to land a killer blow on the champions as Dino Kresinger was brought down in the penalty area by Matt Jurman, allowing Shinji Ono his marquee moment from the penalty spot.
