The Football Sack team have been discussing the finer points of MUFC's trip Downunder in July next year. Whilst Wanderers striker Mark Bridge is unlikely to feature in the A-League All-Stars our Perth Glory correspondent and City fan Neil Sherwin would like the Red Devils to climb on his shoulders and leap.
"...a bunch of undercooked A-League players who will have been on holiday for months get hammered by a Premier League reserve team" said Sherwin.
Wanderers faithful Tom Moxey is standing alongside Sherwin and has already put aside cash for his ticket to boo Robin van Persie for 90 minutes, citing value for money.
On the issue of value, some in the team think ticket prices are a bit steep. Michael Flynn begged the question "Who the frak are Man United?", doing so in decent tune whilst holding both hands in the air.
Podcast host Jack Quigley pointed out that the game takes place three days after State of Origin, which will make the pitch rather awful, if only for the fading painted logos in the middle of the ground.
Chief Christian Layland believes that the All-Stars concept keeps interest high for A-League fans across Australia. Yeah, because with over 659 million United fans worldwide there won't be enough interest in the game, Layles.
What's good for the local game is that by the looks of it, Football Federation Australia have a vested monetary interest in this game, unlike previous marquee games such as the Everton tour and the Festival of Football.
And me? As a former Man Utd fan that still has a soft spot for them, I'm rapt I'll see them play some peeps from the A-League. Trouble is, as it's an All-Star team, I doubt any of them will be from Sydney.
