Aloisi gives referees a red card of his own

Hyundai A-League coaches criticising referees, who'd have thunk! John Aloisi had a fair deal to say about the controversial officiating following Melbourne Heart's 3-2 victory over Brisbane Roar at AAMI Park in Melbourne.

 Goal scorer David Williams saw red following a clumsy tackle on Brisbane defender Ivan Franjic and while Aloisi and Mulvey agreed it was definitely a red card, Aloisi blasted the inconsistency of the referees throughout the game.

"I thought in the second half the referee lost the game a little bit, he just lost control of it.

"Players don't know whether they can jump for a header or go for a tackle because he might give a free kick against them when in the first half he wouldn't" said Aloisi.

While Aloisi stated he had already spoken to the chief officials several rounds ago he didn't feel that the officiating has improved since.

"We didn't receive anything a few weeks back when I lost a player for a month, that's what I mean about being consistent, some tackles go unnoticed. How can everyone else see it and not the officials?

"They have to be more consistent. Today it helped Brisbane get back into the game."

There were positives from the Heart coach though as he praised his players for playing well enough to get themselves back into the top six and into finals contention despite the high number of injuries the club has experienced this season.

From the Brisbane camp, Mike Mulvey believed there were positives which the team could take out of the game for the rest of the season.

"It's hard to cop a three-nil deficit and we were a little deflated but I was very proud with the way we responded towards the end of the game.

"There are two things that don't lie; the table and the scoreline. There was an opportunity tonight and we've let that slip by, there's still a long way to go but I've promised the fans of Brisbane that we will work together and improve."
