Crossbar: Culina is walking dead

Monday, February 11, 2013

Adelaide United leaped back into the fray, Sydney FC and Melbourne Heart breathed life into the final six race, while Perth, Wellington and Brisbane continued to fall. All in another ripping week of A-League.

In what was an ordinary week for sport in Australia it was the team from NZ who were the most disappointing, losing 5-0 to the Mariners (which we predicted).

The Reds continued their dominance over Melbourne in Adelaide costing the Victory a chance to contend for the title.

Jason Culina has walked out on Sydney but that didn't affect the Sky Blues in their win over the struggling Roar.

When will Western Sydney shake the surprise packet tag? We're 20 games into the season.

These snuck under the Crossbar and into The Sack (Likes)
1. @MelbourneHeart. Their 3rd kit and their interactive Saturday, good initiative and even better three points @lomino1 @MajorCoronary

2. A surprising like, Thursday night football. Enjoyed the extra day of footbally goodness. @carlymelissa_x
3. Nick Kalmar. When he gets a start he delivers. @GeorgeDonikian @Johanson_Anders
4. @Thefootballsack Commenatry. geez shucks
@briefcase_wanka

5. Hersi. @benjaminsolah That's a given now! As is Del Piero.
6. Adelaide making it a four horse race again.
7. Five games where no stadium seats were ripped out. Well done football fans, now lets work on those flares.
8. Mark Bridge's goal. A contender for sure.

What went over the Crossbar (Dislikes)

1. Thursday night football and any other midweek games that kick off when our WA friends are at work.

2. Adama Traore send off. Game changer.
3. Melbourne Victory without Mark Milligan. Why was he flown half way around the world for 10 mins in a friendly?
4. Mike Mulvey's chances of retaining his job after this season. @CLeeds24

Too early to call:

Sydney and Heart are back on track and will make the finals.

Something we learned:

The FFDU awards are on again, make sure you nominate and vote for us; The Football Sack.

Something we already knew:
Holger Osiek has no idea on who our best pairing at the back is.

Something we would change:

There should be a register on who is allowed to talk/write and/or report on football.

Hero of the Week:

Graham Arnold. He didn't use the 'flying under the radar' line this week. Good job.

Villain of the Week:

Sports men and women in Australia taking drugs and match fixing. Dragging the good people down you juiced up so and sos.

Last week's prediction:

1. Mariners 5 - Phoenix 0 - Yep!!! Did you get on it??
2. Sydney to get another red card, their fans to say that the FFA is anti-Sydney when in actual fact they are more pro-Sydney than the Cove
. Ali Abbas tried his very best!
3. Brisbane fans to be a little more cheerful after beating Sydney. They are a dreary bunch at the moment. No.

This week's prediction:

1. All the away sides will win this week. Even Wellington.
2. Jason Culina to be linked to Melbourne Heart, keeping up with their 'youth policy'.

3. Ricki Herbert. Sacked.
