You could be forgiven for assuming the game would be a walk in the park but Melbourne Heart gave table toppers Western Sydney Wanderers a run for their money despite going down 3-1 at AAMI Park.
A Labinot Haliti double and late La Rocca goal was enough to seal the points for the Wanderers, after a wonderful long range shot from Golgol Mebrahtu gave the visitors a glimmer of hope.
Western Sydney looked to have control of the game, with Topor-Stanley going close at the 4th minute mark after his header from an Aaron Mooy free kick sailed just wide of the upright.
The visitors took the lead just before the half an hour mark after a failed clearance by Jonathan Germano was picked up by Mooy and passed to Haliti who made no mistake in putting the ball past goalkeeper Redmayne.
The goal was equalled by a wonderful long range shot from Mebrahtu at the 39th minute mark sailed past Covic, giving the Heart faithful a slight sense of hope heading into the second half.
However a second Haliti goal, his first ever brace for the Wanderers, and a late La Rocca goal was enough to seal the points for the team in Red and Black and extending their lead atop the A-League table.
