Roar break records and Heart

The Brisbane Roar have broken the record for most amount of games unbeaten in the A-league whilst downing the Melbourne Heart at Skilled Park tonight.

The Roar got proceedings underway to shock the Heart who appeared sluggish on the horrendous skilled Park turf that has copped a beating from the huge amounts of rain in southern Queensland.

The sleepy Heart defence allowed Solorzano free up the right who beat Simon Colosimo for pace before driving the ball across the face of the keeper.

The Heart were left asking questions of Colosimo, who was left looking pedestrian by the flashy Costa Rican.

The Heart had a legitimate chance in the 20th minute.

After capitalising on some lazy passing by the Roar, the Heart seized possession, Terra crossed the ball for Aloisi who connected with his head but sprayed it wide of the goal.

The Heart continued to show how dangerous they are at set pieces when in the 28th minute Josip Skoko guided the ball to John Aloisi who forced a diving save from Roar keeper, Michael Theoklitos.

The Heart came out firing in the second half, Josip Skoko fired a corner that was gathered and released by Colossimo before Aloisi regathered and attempted to drive the header home.

The Roar added another and began to put the game out of reach when James Meyer scored.

Thomas Broich threaded the ball through to Meyer who cleverly let the ball run before skirting the defender to knock the ball home.

The Heart began clawing their way back into the game in the 74th minute with a powerful strike from Gerald Sibon which was in the back of the net before any of the players around had even reacted.

The Heart continued to press in the dying minutes.

Aloisi had the chance to eqaulise but was denied again by Michael Theoklitos.

Aloisi received the ball inside the box and turned to shoot, however, Michael Theoklitos was Johnny on the spot to make the save as he was for the majority of the match.

The Roar took the minor premiership and continued to lay claim on their major premiership winning aspirations.

The Heart, although in good form, are teetering on the brink of the finals, and head back to Melbourne with plenty of positives from a match with one of the most successful A-league teams ever.
